What do I need to get broadband from uno?

Before you are able to get our broadband service from us, there are a few things which you might need first. We're going to explain this in more detail to make the process a little bit easier.

Phone Line (copper areas)

In non-FTTP (fibre to the property) areas, you will need a phone line to get our broadband service. It'll need to be an active line that is paid-for and must be kept active for the whole duration of the broadband service.

If you have just moved into a property, you will need to arrange for the line to be connected and if no line has previously been active at the address, it is likely a new one would need to be installed by Openreach. Please do not order broadband on a line that is already active when moving in to a property which you have not yet arranged, it is likely the line will end causing your broadband order to fail or be cancelled once the connection has been provided. This will end up costing more in the long run.

Activation of a previous line can be completed as quick as next working day but a new line installation could take many weeks, so we recommend planning in advance where possible. If the line is, or was with a fully unbundled provider such as Sky or Talk Talk, it would be considered as a new line installation, although no visit to the property is required.

The charges vary between activation of a previous line, a new line installation and conversion of a fully unbundled line. You can find our charges at https://www.uno.uk/price-list/.

Router

You'll need to purchase a router to connect to the service. We can provide our own preferred choice of supported router during the signup process but we don't enforce you take this. We'll update our list of offered equipment at https://www.uno.uk/equipment/.

We fully support the equipment that we offer and for any other routers, we will help where possible but you may have to refer to the router manufacturer if we're unable to assist. Please keep this in mind when deciding to order a router from us or to use your own.

Routers provided from other ISPs may work with our network but BT, Sky and O2 often provide routers that are locked to their service. This means they cannot be used on another network. We also don't recommend buying a router from auction sites like eBay as you don't know the history of the device and if it has any pre-existing conditions such as being faulty.

Payment

We accept payment by Credit or Debit card for the initial payment. After this, you can continue to pay each month this way. Payments are debited automatically on the due date.

Direct Debit is also offered to customers once their service is live. If you would like to switch to Direct Debit, this can be setup once your service is live via your portal.
